Colleagues,

It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of GPRTEC 2020.  This was not an easy decision, but came down to a few factors:

-Closures of many area colleges and universities and the rescinding of travel remuneration precluded the travel of several of our artists and their students from attending

-Cancellation of UNK’s in-person classes and the closure of campus to students has precluded the participation of the UNK Wind Ensemble and eliminated the UNK students from serving the conference as student workers

-Our headlining artists and ensembles have either withdrawn or expressed uncertainty about their participation

-Newly released nationwide CDC guidelines recommend the cancellation of all conference and gatherings greater than 50 persons

Rather than try to forge ahead and place greater strain on our remaining participants financially, and in service of public health, we feel in light of the above reasons that the most prudent course of action is cancellation.  We do so with our sincerest regret and apologies.  It is unclear at this moment in time if we will be able to reschedule GPRTEC for later this year, but if this is not possible we hope to be able to revisit Kearney as a host site for GPRTEC in 2022.  We will maintain our website with updates and will be working with ITEA over the coming days and weeks to process refunds as appropriate.

Our sincerest thanks to each of you for your understanding in this matter.

Stay safe and well, and keep practicing!

Sincerely,

Robert Benton
