COMPETITIONS

The following competitions will be held at GPRTEC 2020:

Applications to compete will be due by March 1, 2020.  There will be a $30 fee per entry (either solo or group).

For the solo competitions, the first round will be unaccompanied.  Accompanists will be provided for the finalists, but competitors have the option to bring their own (this will not affect the competition fee in any way).  Both the first and final rounds will be live at the Conference; there will be no prerecorded round.

In each solo competition, competitors will have two choices of repertoire for each round.

Prizes: Prize money will be awarded in each category, amounts TBD

Young Artist Euphonium

Eligibility: Must be 20 years old or younger on January 1, 2020

Tuba Mock

Low Brass Chamber Music Competition

Eligibility: Members must not be professional musicians (tuba or euphonium) or music educators at the collegiate level

Ensemble: 3-6 players, no conductor.  May be a mix of of any low brass (trb, euph, tuba).  No more than 50% of the ensemble may be trombones

First Round Repertoire: one work between 4 and 10 minutes in length

Final Round Repertoire: two works totaling 10-20 minutes.  Repertoire from Preliminary Round may NOT be repeated.
